Carrie Ann Thoms, MD

About Dr. Thoms

Joining Fox Valley Surgical Associates in 2018, Dr. Thoms is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons who specializes in all aspects of breast conditions and surgery. As she explains, “I am involved from the evaluation of abnormal breast imaging through long-term survivorship care.”

Dr. Thoms is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. She earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver and completed residency training in general surgery at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals Program in Atlanta. Furthering her training, Dr. Thoms received specialty certifications in breast ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsy procedures and became a Certification Reviewer with the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) for these programs. She has served on the ASBrS Board of Directors as well as on the ASBrS Foundation Board. Dr. Thoms is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Association of Women Surgeons.

Dedicated to providing the best cancer care possible and advancing treatment options, Dr. Thoms is the recipient of the National Cancer Institute’s Silver Certificate of Excellence. Her advocacy for breast cancer patients was recognized with the Wyoming Breast and Cervical Cancer Network Volunteer of the Year and Wyoming Susan G. Komen Affiliate’s Art for the Cure Champion. She led the development of the award-winning ASBrS Foundation’s patient website, breast360.org, and continues as its Co-Editor.

Dr. Thoms is happy to be back in her hometown of Appleton and enjoys hiking, biking, travel and the arts.
